History of the Club
The Club is an Incorporated Society and has been operating at Henley Road, Kaukapakapa since the 70’s.
When the Cummings family moved to Kaukapakapa in the 70’s (a keen equestrian family) they found there was no Pony Club, a meeting was called and one was set up. Betty Cummings was head instructor, and the Pony Club was known as the Kaukapakapa/Wainui Pony Club which later divided into two clubs, they had rallies one week at Henley road and the next at Wainui.
In the late 70’s a second equestrian club was formed known as the Kaukapakapa Riding Club, they too held their rallies and ribbon days at Henley Road.
By the mid 80’s both the Riding Club and the Pony Club amalgamated.
In 1980 The Club became an affiliated Member of the New Zealand Pony Club Association, and became known as Kaukapakapa Pony Club. During this period we saw many changes to Kaukapakapa district, many of the large farms were spilt up to smaller blocks, which meant that more families moved into the Kaukapakapa area. The Club went from strength to strength.
In December 2006 Kaukapakapa Pony Club became an Incorporated Society.
